O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which encompasses all things,
1 / 65
O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy which encompasses all things,
2 / 65
and by Your power by which You have subdued all things, to which all things are humbled, and before which all things are abased,
3 / 65
and by Your might by which You have overpowered all things,
4 / 65
and by Your glory before which nothing can stand,
5 / 65
and by Your grandeur which has filled all things,
6 / 65
and by Your sovereignty which has risen above all things,
7 / 65
and by Your Face which remains after the annihilation of all things,
8 / 65
and by Your Names which have filled the foundations of all things,
9 / 65
and by Your knowledge which encompasses all things,
10 / 65
and by the light of Your Face through which all things are illuminated.
11 / 65
O Light, O All-Holy, O First of the first and Last of the last!
12 / 65
O Allah, forgive me those sins which tear apart safeguards.
13 / 65
O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down afflictions.
14 / 65
O Allah, forgive me those sins which alter blessings.
15 / 65
O Allah, forgive me those sins which withhold supplication.
16 / 65
O Allah, forgive me those sins which bring down tribulations.
17 / 65
O Allah, forgive me every sin I have committed and every mistake I have made.
18 / 65
O Allah, I seek proximity to You through Your remembrance, I ask You for intercession with You through Yourself, and I ask You by Your generosity to bring me closer to Your proximity, to grant me gratitude to You, and to inspire me with Your remembrance.
19 / 65
O Allah, I ask You with the supplication of a submissive, humble, and fearful servant, that You pardon me, have mercy on me, and make me satisfied and content with Your distribution, and humble in all circumstances.
20 / 65
O Allah, I ask You with the supplication of one whose indigence has become severe, who has brought to You his needs in times of hardship, and whose desire for what is with You has become great.
21 / 65
O Allah, Your sovereignty is great, Your position is exalted, Your plan is hidden, Your command is manifest, Your conquest is overwhelming, Your power is operative, and it is impossible to flee from Your domain.
22 / 65
O Allah, I find no forgiver for my sins, nor concealer for my vices, nor transformer of my evil deeds into good ones except You.
23 / 65
There is no god but You, glory and praise be to You! I have wronged myself, emboldened myself through my ignorance, and relied upon Your ancient remembrance of me and Your grace toward me.
24 / 65
O Allah, my Master! How many evil deeds have You concealed, how many heavy tribulations have You spared, how many stumbles have You prevented, how many disliked things have You repelled, and how many beautiful praises of which I was unworthy have You spread!
25 / 65
O Allah, my tribulation has become great, my bad state has exceeded limits, my deeds have fallen short, my shackles have paralyzed me, my long hopes have barred me from my benefit, and the world has deceived me with its illusion, as has my soul through its treason and procrastination.
26 / 65
O my Master! I ask You by Your might that my evil deeds and actions do not veil my supplication from You, that You do not expose me by what You know of my secrets, and that You do not hasten my punishment for what I have done in private: my evil deeds, my wrongdoing, my continuous negligence, my ignorance, my excessive desires, and my heedlessness.
27 / 65
And be, O Allah, by Your might, compassionate toward me in all circumstances, and gracious toward me in all affairs.
28 / 65
My God and my Lord, whom else do I have besides You to ask to relieve my distress and consider my affair?
29 / 65
My God and my Master, You imposed a judgment upon me in which I followed my own soul's desire, and did not guard myself against the embellishment of my enemy. He deceived me through my desires, and destiny assisted him in that, so I transgressed some of Your limits and disobeyed some of Your commands.
30 / 65
To You belongs praise against me in all of that, and I have no argument in what Your decree executed upon me, nor in what Your judgment and tribulation imposed upon me.
31 / 65
And I have come to You, my God, after my shortcomings and excesses against myself, apologizing, regretful, broken, seeking pardon, repenting, acknowledging, submissive, and confessing.
32 / 65
I find no escape from what has issued from me, nor any refuge to which I may turn in my affair, except Your acceptance of my excuse and Your admittance of me into the expanse of Your mercy.
33 / 65
O Allah, accept my excuse, have mercy on the severity of my distress, and release me from the tightness of my bonds.
34 / 65
O Lord, have mercy on the weakness of my body, the delicacy of my skin, and the frailty of my bones.
35 / 65
O You who began my creation, my remembrance, my upbringing, my goodness, and my nourishment, grant me this in virtue of Your initial generosity and Your past goodness toward me.
36 / 65
O my God, my Master, and my Lord! Would You punish me with Your Fire after my belief in Your Oneness, after what my heart has encompassed of Your knowledge, my tongue has uttered of Your remembrance, my conscience has held of Your love, and after the sincerity of my confession and my supplication while submissive to Your Lordship?
37 / 65
Far be it from You! You are too generous to waste one whom You have raised, or to distance one whom You have brought near, or to drive away one whom You have sheltered, or to surrender to tribulation one whom You have protected and shown mercy to.
38 / 65
Would that I knew, O my Master, my God, and my Protector! Will You unleash the Fire upon faces that fell down prostrate in adoration of Your greatness, upon tongues that spoke of Your Oneness with sincerity and praised You with gratitude, upon hearts that acknowledged Your Divinity with certainty, upon consciences that held such knowledge of You that they became humble, and upon limbs that strived toward the places of Your worship in obedience and gestured in submission seeking Your forgiveness?
39 / 65
Such is not the expectation of You, nor is it what has been reported of Your grace concerning You, O Generous One!
40 / 65
O Lord, You know my weakness before a little of the tribulations of this world and its punishments, and the hardships that occur therein to its people, even though that is a tribulation and hardship whose stay is brief, whose permanence is short, and whose duration is fleeting.
41 / 65
So how can I endure the tribulations of the Hereafter and the magnitude of the hardships that occur therein, when it is a tribulation whose duration is long, whose stay is eternal, and whose punishment is not lightened for its people, because it arises only from Your wrath, Your vengeance, and Your anger, things before which the heavens and the earth cannot stand?
42 / 65
O my Master, how then can I endure, when I am Your weak, humble, insignificant, wretched, and helpless servant?
43 / 65
O my God, my Lord, my Master, and my Protector! For which matters shall I complain to You, and for which of them shall I cry out and weep? For the pain and severity of the punishment, or for the length of the tribulation and its duration?
44 / 65
If You subject me to punishments along with Your enemies, gather me with the people of Your tribulation, and separate me from Your beloved ones and Your friends...
45 / 65
Then suppose, O my God, my Master, my Protector, and my Lord, that I could endure Your punishment, how could I endure separation from You?
46 / 65
And suppose that I could endure the heat of Your Fire, how could I endure not looking upon Your generosity? Or how could I dwell in the Fire when my hope is Your pardon?
47 / 65
By Your might, O my Master and my Protector, I swear truthfully: if You leave me with speech, I will cry out to You from among its people with the cry of the hopeful, I will scream to You with the scream of those calling for help, I will weep for You like the weeping of those who have lost everything, and I will call out to You: 'Where are You, O Protector of the believers, O Ultimate Hope of the knowers, O Succor of those seeking aid, O Beloved of the hearts of the truthful, and O God of the worlds!'
48 / 65
Do You see Yourself, Glory be to You O my God and with Your praise, hearing therein the voice of a Muslim servant imprisoned within it for his disobedience, tasting the flavor of its punishment for his sin, detained between its layers for his crime and offense, while he cries out to You with the cry of one hopeful of Your mercy, calls upon You with the tongue of the people of Your Oneness, and pleads with You by Your Lordship?
49 / 65
O my Master, how could he remain in the punishment when he hopes for what has preceded of Your clemency? Or how could the Fire cause him pain when he hopes for Your grace and mercy? Or how could its flames burn him when You hear his voice and see his place? Or how could its sighing encompass him when You know his weakness? Or how could he writhe between its layers when You know his truthfulness? Or how could its guardians chide him when he calls upon You: 'O Lord'? Or how could he hope for Your grace in freeing him from it, only for You to leave him therein?
50 / 65
Far be it from You! Such is not the expectation of You, nor what is known of Your grace, nor does it resemble how You have treated the monotheists with Your goodness and benevolence!
51 / 65
For with certainty I affirm: had You not decreed the punishment of Your deniers and ordained the eternal abode for Your opponents, You would have made the Fire entirely cool and safe, and no one would have had a dwelling or abode in it.
52 / 65
But You, sanctified be Your Names, have sworn to fill it with the disbelievers, from the jinn and mankind all together, and to keep the obstinate therein forever.
53 / 65
And You, exalted be Your praise, said initially, bestowing favors out of generosity: 'Is he who is a believer like him who is a transgressor? They are not equal.'

My God and my Master! I ask You by the power You have determined, by the decree You have finalized and executed, prevailing over him upon whom You enforced it, to forgive me in this night and in this hour every offense I have committed, every sin I have done, every evil deed I have concealed, every ignorance I have performed — whether I hid it or declared it, concealed it or revealed it —, and every bad deed You commanded the Noble Scribes to record, those whom You appointed to preserve whatever issues from me, making them witnesses over me along with my limbs, while You Yourself were the Watcher over me behind them, and the Witness to what was hidden from them, which You concealed out of Your mercy and covered out of Your grace.
55 / 65
And to grant me an abundant share of every good You send down, or favor You bestow, or goodness You spread, or sustenance You extend, or sin You forgive, or mistake You cover. O Lord, O Lord, O Lord!
56 / 65
O my God, my Master, my Protector, and Owner of my servitude, O You in whose hand is my forelock, O You who know my distress and my wretchedness, O You who are aware of my poverty and indigence! O Lord, O Lord, O Lord!
57 / 65
I ask You by Your right, Your holiness, and the greatest of Your attributes and Names, to make my moments in the night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance, linked to Your service, and my deeds accepted with You, so that my deeds and invocations all become a single continuous effort, and my state in Your service eternal.
58 / 65
O my Master, O You upon whom is my reliance, O You to whom I complain of my states! O Lord, O Lord, O Lord!
59 / 65
Strengthen my limbs for Your service, fortify my resolve, grant me seriousness in Your fear, and continuity in joining Your service, so that I may race toward You in the arenas of the foremost, hasten to You among the prominent, long for Your proximity among the passionate, draw near to You like the sincere, fear You like the convinced, and gather in Your presence with the believers.
60 / 65
O Allah, whoever intends evil against me, intend evil against him; whoever schemes against me, scheme against him; and make me among the servants who have the best share with You, the nearest rank to You, and the most exclusive proximity to You, for that cannot be attained except by Your grace. Be generous to me through Your generosity, incline toward me through Your glory, and protect me through Your mercy.
61 / 65
Make my tongue constant in Your remembrance, my heart enamored with Your love, grant me a favorable response, erase my stumbles, and forgive my lapses, for You have decreed Your worship upon Your servants, commanded them to supplicate You, and guaranteed them a response.
62 / 65
Toward You, my Lord, I have turned my face, and toward You, my Lord, I have stretched out my hand. So by Your might, answer my supplication, grant me my wishes, do not cut off my hope in Your grace, and spare me the evil of my enemies among the jinn and mankind.
63 / 65
O You whose pleasure is swift, forgive one who possesses nothing but supplication, for You do whatever You will! O You whose Name is a remedy, whose remembrance is a cure, and whose obedience is wealth, have mercy on one whose capital is hope, and whose weapon is weeping!
64 / 65
O You of bountiful blessings, O You who repel afflictions, O Light of those bewildered in darkness, O All-Knowing who is not taught, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and do with me what is worthy of You.
65 / 65
And may Allah send blessings upon His Messenger and the blessed Imams from his family, and grant them abundant peace.
